AffiliateDisclosure
Some links on this site earn us a commission. Here is exactly how that works, and what it does not change.

What an affiliate link is
Some of the links on Dauphin Island Guide are affiliate links. If you click one and then book something, the company pays us a small commission. You pay the same price you would have paid going to them directly — the commission comes out of their marketing budget, not your pocket.
Who we work with
Our accommodation links go to Vrbo, through the Partnerize affiliate network. You will find them on the Places to Stay page, in the trip planner results, and as a single link at the bottom of the Beaches and Explore pages.
Most other outbound links on this site are not affiliate links. When we link to the ferry operator, the Town of Dauphin Island, the Audubon sanctuary or a restaurant, we earn nothing.
On the Places to Stay page we also show a sponsored banner from Expedia Group. It is an embedded frame served by creator.expediagroup.com and is marked "Sponsored" above the banner.
How to tell the difference
Affiliate links open in a new tab and are marked rel="sponsored" in the page code, which is the standard way to label a commercial link for search engines. They also look like normal buttons on the page — we do not disguise them, and we do not hide them behind a redirect.
What it does not change
- Our recommendations are not for sale. No business has paid to be listed, ranked or described on this site.
- We do not state prices, availability or ratings for rentals, because those change and we cannot verify them. The booking partner shows you the live numbers.
- A commission never decides whether something is included. If a place belongs on the island guide, it is there; if it closes, it comes off. We verify listings against live business data, not against who pays.
- We do not run display advertising or tracking pixels beyond the anonymous Google Analytics counted on every page — see the privacy policy.
Questions
If anything here is unclear, or you want to know whether a specific link is an affiliate link, ask us and we will tell you plainly.
